The Detailing Manager oversees day to day work of the MHI detailing design team. As MHI is primarily absent from structural design services, detailing remains the principal engineering-related task. The Detailing Manager uses Tekla and AutoCAD software to create erection drawings and shop drawings as required for the project. The Detailing Manager complies with the requirements of the design drawings and with all industry standards and protocols, such as those established by the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) and the American Welding Society (AWS), and MHI's internal detailing standards. The MHI Detailing Manager is not responsible for design, including structural strength, stiffness, and stability, which are the responsibility of the structural engineer.
Provides direction and leadership to the departmental team to achieve high quality, productivity and safety standards. Insures compliance to production schedules, process quality, efficiency standards, budget, inventory and data reporting. Facilitates employee hiring, training, development and performance evaluations. Administers corrective action as needed. Ensures training and education on specific tasks and company related functions. Maintains training matrix. Facilitates improvement through team involvement, training and education on specific tasks, safety issues and other company-related functions. Submits department budgets and adheres to them. Assists in the capital equipment implementation process. Responsible for maintaining adequate supply of departmental shop supplies and materials. Assures proper maintenance of equipment, tools and housekeeping. Performs other duties as assigned.
The logistics manager is responsible for the freight arrangement and dispatching of shipments according to the client delivery. All related Bills of Lading, Shipping Lists, Packing Lists, Certificates of Origin, Customs or Export Documents, B/L Copies, etc. shall be prepared by the Logistics Manager. Also responsible for assisting to identify and arrange freight forwarders and book transportation routes in accordance with contractual delivery terms.
Report to Project Manager. Responsible for all communication with the customer after a project is sold. Monitors all aspects of a project to make sure that schedules are maintained and a quality product is provided. Responsible for all contract administration issues as they apply to their contracts. Duties incude attending kick-off meetings, weekly project meetings.
Develops, administers and maintains MHI Quality Assurance Plan. Audits production quality and initiates necessary corrective action. Directs the shop inspectors and works with the Production Manager concerning special problems including, but not limited to welding procedures, painting requirements and non-destructive testing. Works with customers and engineering on discrepancies to determine corrective actions or acceptable deviation. Reviews customer quality specifications and special requirements to assure the MHI related specifications are effectively distributed, understood and accomplished. Verifies surveys of new subcontract fabricators. Performs random audits of subcontract fabrication to maintain customer quality requirement from the subcontractors. Has total “Stop Work” authority. Supervises shop inspectors. Responsible for the implementation and management of the Contractor’s Quality Control Program, including the coordination, performance and execution of construction inspection and testing services for the project. Responsible for assuring that the quality of the work meets or exceeds the project’s contractual requirements, and maintains the standard of excellence established by the project ITP, client requirement, and MHI internal requirements.
The Technical QC is an inspector who is capable of understanding complex fabrication both from the perspective of drawings and from physical assembly, including having a deep understanding of AWS & EN welding symbols and welding processes. This position is one where the inspector's duties include proving intricate fitting and realizing methodology of assembly. Post-Weld Heat treatment (PWHT) and the application of other special processes would fall into the scope of the TQC
All QC Inspectors report to the QM on the daily quality condition under their scope of control. The QC Inspectors also work with the production foremen to resolve quality issues at the shop-floor level before they become "rejection or NCR-level" discrepancies. The QC must perform multiple daily shop inspections and daily quality audits. Daily Audits may include photographs and be submitted in Excel format to be reolved by the Production Team. The QC have the authority to accept, reject or order rework on any members deemed necessary and must sign-off on assemblies passing through the "Holding Points" established in the MHI shop. They are responsible for inspecting each piece fabricated and approving before shipment is allowed. Inspection is made for compliance to the shop drawings, customer requirements, and prevailing ITP.
